Dorset Wildlife Trust are happy to announce the opportunity of 5 Dorset based traineeships.

These are 10-month traineeships, undertaking a programme of practical conservation across our nature reserves. Each traineeship will be stationed in different parts of the county, but mainly based at either Brooklands Farm, Kingcombe Farm or the Urban Wildlife Centre near Corfe Mullen. One of the traineeships will be based on Brownsea Island.

Please note that accommodation is not provided for any of the traineeships.

Working alongside our experienced Reserves team with designated mentors, the traineeships offer practical experience working in the conservation sector. This includes a comprehensive training package including vocational qualifications in chainsaw, first aid and many more. At the end of 10 months, trainees are experienced in a wide range of practical management techniques, volunteer management and wildlife surveys.

Commencing in early September 2024 our traineeships are an amazing opportunity for people wishing to pursue a career in environmental conservation. Our traineeships have an excellent record of helping people into their first job in this sector.

Our traineeships are partly funded by Magnox Ltd and private donations, for which we are extremely grateful. To meet funding requirements, and to help support local communities, priority will be given to applicants from Dorset and Southwest countie.

Each traineeship is a 10-month programme of 4 days per week, normally Monday – Thursday, although there will be some requirement for weekend availability.

Closing date for applications: 19 July 2024

An Interview/selection day will be held at our Brooklands Farm HQ, near Dorchester and on Brownsea Island for that traineeship.
