About the event

This event is linked to a series of training opportunities being organised throughout this week across the Wessex region as part of a Natural England supported 'Wessex Citizen Science Pilot' which aims to promote and share best practice in citizen science.

Shoresearch is a Wildlife Trusts' citizen science programme surveying UK intertidal communities. Its methodology, with supporting training, allows people to join local volunteers to assist in establishing a dataset which feeds into national databases. You do not have to be an expert to take part.

This online session is an introduction to Shoresearch: its aims, methods and ways you can get involved. On the following days there are options to attend up to three Shoresearch surveys, at Lyme Regis (27 Feb), Clevedon Pier (28 Feb) and Minehead Beach (1 Mar) to work alongside existing volunteers to put the methods into practice. These sessions will need to booked separately (places are limited).

Visit https://www.somersetwildlife.org/events for further details about the surveys at Clevedon Pier and Minehead Beach.
