Dorset Wildlife Trust supports and works with landowners, farmers and other organisations to monitor species and habitats, plan and implement ecological improvements and identify and apply for funding to support nature. Our dedicated team have vast experience over many years and can offer:
Surveys and monitoring
Understanding the nature which is already present and the health of habitats is crucial. The team can help to deliver a host of surveys and can advise if funding is available.
- Bespoke ecological monitoring, including photographic evidence
- Abundance surveys
- Baselining for Agri-environment schemes and Biodiversity net-gain (BNG)
- Condition assessment of habitats (BETA surveys)
- Assessment of priority habitats
- Sites of Nature Conservation Interest (SNCI) condition surveys
Agri-environment schemes
The team offers support through assessing feasibility, planning, application writing and submission.
- Countryside Stewardship, Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) and Landscape Recovery
- Feasibility studies and implementation plans (PA1 and PA2)

Making more space for nature
The team offers bespoke plans for habitat restoration and the restoration of natural processes. These plans can include:
- Habitat restoration with particular expertise in wildflower meadow restoration and seed harvesting
- Access to volunteer work parties to carry out tasks.
- Training days/on-site visits.
- Rewilding/natural processes advice and support
- River restoration - natural flood management
- Bespoke advice for community-owned sites
