About the event

Did you know that barn owls live in Weymouth? Join this family event at the Lorton Meadows Conservation Centre for a morning dedicated to these handsome birds and the animals they prey on.

Rather like fur balls produced by cats, owl pellets contain the bones, feathers and fur of their recent meals. Using tweezers and magnifying glasses we will tease apart the pellets and identify the contents within using special identification charts. Children may wish to take their finds home, and they can arrange these on the cards provided.

We will also have time for a short walk around the nearby fields that barn owls hunt over, whilst looking out for the wildlife on site that day.

This event is suitable for families, children from 4 to 15 yrs old. All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
