Celebration and Commemoration Giving T&C's
Dorset Wildlife Trust Celebration and Commemoration Giving Terms and Conditions
The individual = person purchasing a dedicated leaf, bird or plaque
The Trust = Dorset Wildlife Trust
- There is a limit of 210 total leaves/birds on the ‘Memory Tree’ at Brownsea Island, and a limit of 335 plaques on the boardwalk at the Wild Chesil Centre. If the location that the individual has selected is at capacity upon receipt of the order, the Trust will contact the individual and the order will be processed once a space becomes available. Alternatively, the individual can request a refund at this point.
- The term of the dedication commences once the leaf/bird/plaque is displayed. Terms are as follows: Leaf = 3 years; bird = 5 years. Plaques on the boardwalk will remain in situ for the lifetime of the plank/boardwalk. Should repairs be required to the plank/boardwalk, the Trust will contact the individual.
- At the end of the term, the individual will be given the option to renew the leaf/bird on the ‘Memory Tree’ for an extended term, or have it returned to the individual to keep. The Trust will contact the individual ahead of their renewal date.
- Should the individual wish to have their leaf/bird returned to them, a charge of £5 will be payable in advance to cover postage costs. Alternatively, the individual may request to collect the leaf/bird from the Trust headquarters at no charge.
- The costs for a leaf/bird/plaque are as follows: Leaf = £100; bird = £250; plaque = £250.
- Orders will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis.
- The donation must be received in advance of the leaf/bird/plaque being engraved.
- All leaves/birds/plaques remain the sole property of the Trust for the duration of the term.
- The leaves/birds/plaques normally take 6-8 weeks to be installed following an order but can take longer depending on demand. The Trust will notify the individual once installation is complete.
- The Trust shall not be responsible or liable for the cleaning or maintenance of the leaves/birds/plaques.
- Although of excellent quality and designed to last, the individual acknowledges, by placing the order, that leaves/birds/plaques may become worn or damaged over time owing to natural causes. No liability will be accepted for this by the Trust.
- In addition, the individual acknowledges that Dorset Wildlife Trust nature reserves are open to the general public and the Trust accepts no liability for damage, loss, vandalism, or theft of any leaf/bird/plaque.
- Our nature reserves are sensitive habitats for wildlife. The Trust therefore requests that no floral, or other physical tributes, are left at any time. Any type of physical tribute left will be removed.
- Due to special events, essential repairs and renovations, it may not always be possible to view the ‘Memory Tree’ on Brownsea Island, or the boardwalk at the Wild Chesil Centre.
- The Trust reserves the right to approve all lettering and to refuse any order. In such cases, the Trust will cite the reason for the refusal and will provide a full refund.
- Any amendments to the inscription provided on the order form must be notified to the Trust by email to fundraising@dorsetwildlifetrust.org.uk within seven days of the receipt of confirmation. Amendments notified within this deadline will be free of charge. No amendment to the inscription can be made after this deadline.
- Due to the leaves/birds/plaques being personalised, the individual has no right to cancellation in respect of the order. No refunds will be given by the Trust once the order has been placed, save in respect of clauses 1 and 15 above.
- The Trust will assume that the address for the return of the leaf/bird is as provided when making this donation, unless the individual notifies the Trust otherwise.
- The individual’s contact details will be kept on a secure database, in accordance with the Trust’s data retention policy .
- By accepting these terms, the individual confirms that they have read the Trust’s privacy policy and the individual consents to the Trust using personal information collected about the individual in accordance with this policy.
- Dedicating a leaf/bird on the ‘Memory Tree’ at Brownsea Island does not include free access to any area of the Island. Free access to the area managed by the Trust is included with a Dorset Wildlife Trust membership. To access the remainder of the island, the individual must pay the entrance fee to the National Trust or be a National Trust member. The ferry fare will always apply.
- The Trust will not be liable or responsible for any failure to perform, or delay in performance of, any of its obligations under these terms or for any damage or loss to any leaf/bird/plaque that is caused by an event outside its control. An event outside its control means any act or event beyond the Trust’s reasonable control, including without limitation strikes, lock-outs or other industrial action by third parties, civil commotion, riot, invasion, terrorist attack or threat of terrorist attack, war (whether declared or not) or threat or preparation for war, fire, explosion, storm, flood, earthquake, subsidence, epidemic or other natural disaster, or failure of public or private telecommunications networks.
